Have a few openings in an established redraft league. This year we are doing NL only ( we alternate AL/NL yearly).
League has been around since '06.
All entry money paid minus CBS site fee
We have between 12/13 owners yearly, so we penetrate close to 100% of available player pool. Super deep league. You need to know your stuff. Minor league players are drafted and contribute here.
We will be implementing a IP max this year possibly for the first time, so there will be more pitching management than in years past, but aside from that, a very standard roto set of rules.
Draft is fairly firmly set for March 19th at 11am PST. All payments ( $100 ) are expected to be in by early March.
The full rule-set is below. If interested, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
. I can send you an invite and you can poke around and check the league history if you would like.
- Constitution -
To assemble a lineup of 23 baseball players whose cumulative statistics, compiled and measured by the methods described in these rules, exceed those of all other teams in the League.
Minimum of 12 / Max of 14
A team's active weekly roster consists of the following players:
5 OF (any)
1 MI (either second baseman or shortstop)
1 CI (either first or third baseman)
1 DH ( AL ) / UT ( NL )- defined as a player who may play any non-pitching position
9 pitchers ***
Plus up to 6 reserve spots - can be any position
Min IP 1000 - If under 1000, you will default to last in all pitching categories
Max IP 1200 - once over 1200, you will stop accumulating pitching stats
Final min/max to be determined based on size of league.
Day - March 19th 11:00 am PST
Draft order will be spun using an internet order randomizer 2 hours prior to start of draft.
Each team must acquire a minimum of 23 but no more than 29 players in accordance with the active lists above
First 23 rounds are mandatory. Last 6 are optional. Once you pass on a pick within the final 6 rounds you are excluded from drafting for the remainder of the draft.
At each year's draft, all owners will fill their entire roster; there will be no players carried over from one year to the next.
Players eligible to be drafted include any player currently on the 40-man roster, in the minor league system of a team within the league being drafted who has not yet been demoted, cut or designated for assignment and all "on draft day MLB Free Agents". Draft MLB Free Agents at your own risk, as if they sign with an AL club, you lose the player with no compensation. Players currently rostered on a team from the other league are not eligible.
A player may be assigned to any position at which he appeared at least 20 times in the major leagues in the preceding season or 15 in the current season. If a player did not appear in 20 games at any position, he may be drafted only at the position at which he appeared most frequently.
Designated Hitter/Utility is considered a position for these purposes.
If a player did not appear the prior season in the majors, he qualifies at the position he played most frequently the prior season in any league(s) he played in. If a player sat out the previous year for any reason, his eligibility will be determined by the last season in which he played professional baseball in the United States.
These eligibility rules shall only be used to determine the positions at which a player may be drafted. Once the season begins, a player becomes eligible for any additional positions if he appears in the major leagues at least 15 times.
The following statistical categories will be used to determine team performance and league standings:
Total home runs
Total runs batted in
Total runs scored
Total stolen bases minus caught stealing
Total saves minus blown saves
Teams are ranked from first to last in each of the ten categories and given points for their respective ranking ( If a 12 team league, the top team earns 12 points per top score in each category, 11 points for second best in each category etc.. )
The team with the most overall points at the end of the major league regular season will be deemed the victor.
In the case of ties in an individual category, the tied teams will share the ranking points of the two positions in the standings.
In the case of ties in total points, the team that finishes ahead in more categories will be deemed the victor. If both teams remain tied after this comparison, the tie will stand.
Performance stats of a player shall be assigned to a team only when he is on the active roster of that team and on the active roster of a major league team in the appropriate league.
The statistics for players traded out of the league will continue to accumulate for the duration of the season.
Trades may be made at any time after the draft and until August 31st. Statistics will take effect at the normal reporting period.
You must be within 3 (+/-) or fewer places of the standings in order to be involved in a trade with another team. Standings for this purpose are the standings from the day prior.
Teams are free to make trades of any kind so long as the active rosters of the teams involved in the trade reflect the required position distribution upon the completion of the transaction.
Any player may be traded to another team's active roster or reserve list. Teams may also trade any portion of their Free Agent Acquisition Budget dollars (see below) up to a maximum of the amount remaining in their FAAB budget. FAAB dollars traded must be in full dollar increments.
***************** In order to use your newly acquired free agent dollars, a trade must be completed no later than 12 pm PST on auction days( either Tuesday / Saturday ). The reason for this is I have to add any acquired dollars manually to each owner and this ensures that you will have the money for that evenings auction. We will use the time stamp of the transaction for verification. If you complete the trade after 12pm PST of the day of the auction, your newly acquired money will be available the next time a auction is run. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! 12 PM PST!!!
******* Any owner(S) involved in a trade must post on the league message board all free agent money being transferred simultaneously with the trade and before 12pm PST on FAAB auction days.
Roster moves made by a team that involve its reserve list, its disabled list or the free agent pool and its active roster may be made simultaneous with a trade in order to meet roster requirements. Failure to replace a traded player and bring a team's roster to its legal limit will result in the nullification of the trade.
If 1/3 ( 4 owners or more ) of the league feels that a particular trade is imbalanced, they may submit their concerns to the league commissioner. The trading partners would then have to demonstrate to the commissioner exactly how they arrived at this being a fair deal, in terms of either stats gained or places gained in the standings. If they are unable to adequately show that the deal is in both team's interests, then the commissioner may exercise his authority to revoke the deal.
********** The league will have 4 days from the time stamp of a deal to post 4 rejections or more. All players involved will remain on each teams roster during this time. If an owner protests a trade, they must provide sound reasoning as to why the trade is unfair. All protests must be posted on the league message board.
If 4 or more owners protest, the owners involved in the deal will have 2 days from that point to provide logical reasoning for the trade. If both owners do not post their individual argument ( simply agreeing with what the other trade partner said, does not constitute a reply ) for the trade or the reasoning is unsound, the trade will be nullified and all players will be returned to the their original rosters and all free agents acquired with any acquired auction money will be returned to the free agent pool.
THE DISABLED LIST
A player placed on the major league disabled list is eligible to be placed on a fantasy teams disabled list. You are allowed two extra DL spots per team in addition to the 6 reserve spots for a total roster max of 31.
When a player on the DL is activated to his team's major league roster, that player must be activated to his teams active or reserve roster within one day, or the owner will lose the player to the free agent pool.
All DL activations are bound by the roster requirements for the active or reserve lists. Players must be released, traded, etc. to make room for the DL activated player.
You do NOT have to DL a player who was DL'd by his MLB team. It is optional
Beginning with the first transaction period following the conclusion of the draft, through the end of the regular season, free agents in the free agent pool may be signed, without limit, in the following manner:
Each team shall have, for the purpose of acquiring free agents during the course of the season, a supplementary budget of 100 units. This amount shall be known as the team's Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB).
The minimum bid shall be 1 ( one ) unit; the maximum bid shall be the amount remaining in a team's FAAB budget.
A free agent goes to the highest bidder. If more than one team submits the same high bid, the player goes to the team that is lowest in the most recently compiled weekly standings.
In any given week, teams may acquire as many free agents on which it was the high bidder until it runs out of roster spots to fill, players to bid upon or available FAAB resources.
Only in-league players who are active on a major league roster at the time of the transaction deadline may be bid on. A player may NOT be bid on if he is on another teams active or reserve roster, or DL list prior to the transaction period. A player may be bid on if he was traded into the league from the other league, or signed after being cut from a team in the other league, at any point after draft day.
Players acquired via free agent bid must immediately be added to a team's active roster and remain there for a minimum of one week. For each free agent that it signs, a team must at the same time release, trade, disable or reserve a player from its active roster.
RESPONSIBILITY and GOVERNANCE
The commissioner is empowered to interpret the rules. Any changes proposed to these rules shall be brought to a vote of all current league participants during the off-season.
All illegal player moves made by a league member will be nullified. For an illegal draft pick, the player will be immediately released back into the free agent pool. For an illegal roster move, the transaction will be nullified and any affected statistics will be recalculated back to the date of the offense.
12 teams x 100 entry - $150 league fee = $1050
Champ = $500
2nd = $350
