According to FOX Sports.com's Ken Rosenthal, Jon Garland's contract with the Dodgers is a one-year, $5 million deal that includes an option for 2012.
He'll also potentially get $3 million more based on bonuses between 150-190 innings pitched. Garland's option for 2012 will vest if he reaches a high innings total next season. He turned in a 3.47 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 200 frames for the Padres in 2010 with 136 strikeouts against 87 walks. Those numbers might have been helped by the pitching-friendly confines of Petco Park, but he's still an effective innings eater and should do well at the back of the Dodgers' rotation. Really excited about this news. Now with a rotation of:

Kershaw
Kuroda
Billingsley
Lilly
Garland

I can see the Dodgers easily winning the NL West next year. That is a deep, veteran-laded rotation, and Kershaw/Kuroda have the upside to be aces for any playoff series.

If the starting lineup can get its act together and Matt Kemp performs like the All-Star he is, the Dodgers will have L.A. thinking blue in October.

I'm encouraged with the staff also, but the West is by no means easy, lets wait and see what happens with the OF-2b-and catcher before you go all gaga on the '11 Dodgers.

The pen was really stretched out last season. Lilly/Kuroda/Garland should help in that area at the very least. Ned just needs to address the offense now w/o damaging the defense too much.

Gotta fix Mr Broxton there too but definitely a nice rotation to help the Dodgers compete in the West
