Behrens' Catchers the rest of the way

Postby ramble2 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 9:04 am

Given how many of us here likely lost our catcher last night, I thought it'd be useful to have a general thread looking at catcher rankings the rest of the way. Obviously the Draft, Trade, Keeper, and Waivers forum is where to post questions about your team,* but if we have a general discussion about rankings that will likely be pretty useful for many of us who lost Santana yesterday.

(*Although, I don't know, maybe it'd be useful to just consolidate all the catcher questions into a thread.)

As a starting point, let's use Andy Behrens' (Yahoo) list. Organized by tiers:

$24 Joe Mauer
$23 Brian McCann
$22 Buster Posey
$21 Victor Martinez

$19 Geovany Soto
$17 Kurt Suzuki
$17 Miguel Montero
$16 Mike Napoli
$16 Miguel Olivo
$15 Jorge Posada
$15 Matt Wieters
$14 John Buck

$12 Bengie Molina
$11 Yorvit Torrealba
$9 Jason Kendall
$7 A.J. Pierzynski
$7 Yadier Molina
$6 Russell Martin
$6 Carlos Ruiz
$6 Jonathan Lucroy

$5 Ryan Doumit
$5 Ramon Hernandez
$4 John Jaso
$4 Chris Iannetta
$4 Ronny Paulino
$4 Chris Snyder

He goes deeper, but I doubt there are many leagues where all 26 of these catchers are taken (e.g., Posada, the Molina brothers, Torrealba and Lucroy were among the available in my league). These rankings are not for keeper leagues, but if you're looking to replace Santana you're unlikely to be in the market for a long-term solution. :~(
