I would say it is not an issue of deterance but rather an issue of safety. It is safer to get tasered than it is to be tackled by Matt Chatham or multiple secuirty guards or even tackled by a single secuirty gaurd. It is also safer for the security gaurds who could be injured in the takedown (you will notice that in two of those videos security gaurds ran head-long into each other. Isn't quite possible that they were hurt?).

My gut tells me that being tackled (not necessarily on the outfield grass, but if we're talking generally about police actions) is probably more likely to result in injury, but less likely to result in death.

Deaths do occur in contact sports such as rugby. In fact the number of deaths early in the days of football, led president Roosevelt to suspend the game until rules were changed to make the game safer. People who run onto baseball fields usually do not wear helmets and pads and thus could suffer fractured skulls, broken necks, ect... when being tackled by 220 pound security gaurds.

So there is a very slim chance of death either way...

It would'a been kind of funny if, before the guards got near him, he pretended to tase himself and then went into convulsions on the grass.

haha check this out:

http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/spo ... 39934.html

In the video, they made a point to tell us that they weren't going to identify the minor, then blurred out his face in the video, and then posted a giant, high-res picture of his face (not blurred out) right below it.

Haha. That's awesome. ;-D

He's a goofy looking kid, in the photo he looks like he's already being tased but the chubby security guard hasn't fired it yet. :-b

PHILADELPHIA -- This, perhaps, was not the best way to treat a visitor.

When veteran Montreal hockey writer Pat Hickey went out to his car after Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals Sunday night, he found that fans had covered his car with trash, slashed one of the tires and stolen his Quebec license plates.

Curiously, they also ripped a bug guard off the front of the car, a 1999 Honda Accord with about 351,000 miles on it.

Pfft, that kind of stuff happens everywhere, it just doesn't get reported. Philly bias.

You also happened to be 45 at the time and hanging out near the cheerleaders locker room with binoculars.
