There's so much variance between roto, HtH and some of the points-based formats that even if you found an article it might nor might not be helpful. All the major sites have primers of various sorts - Yahoo, ESPN, ect. Honestly though, I think you'll get more of what you need from posting here on the Cafe. You can get the basics sorted out here in this thread, and when you have specific player-related questions the Draft, Keeper, Waiver thread is a great resource.
So, first question - what kind of league are you playing in (scoring type), and what does the roster make-up look like?
Second question, who's on your roster now?
Third, who's on the waiver wire in your league that you were thinking about picking up?
Fourth, how competitive is your league? Is it a lot of casual and/or new to fantasy managers, or are you the new fish in an experienced league? This will affect how aggressive you need to be on the waiver wire mostly, but will also serve as conext to help guys lay out specific advice of all sorts.
The nice thing about posting here is that you'll often get a dash of strategy with your player specific questions. You may also have questions about what you bench make-up should look like (# of hitters vs pitchers, ect), how to target emerging closers, how well your current roster is balanced, or whatever - ask them here and you'll get what you need.
