What are everyone's thoughts on Ricky Romero? He pitched well in his first outing against Texas (7 IP, 4 Ks, 1.29 ERA, 5 H, 2 BB) and that's nothing compared to his outing so far today: 6 IP, 12 K, 0.00 ERA, 0 H, 1 BB.

I had my sights on him, it's gonna be hard not to pull the trigger after this outing (dropping Ervin).

sounds like a WHIR type message, but Ervin is brutal do it

dominating today, downright nasty

Cafe bet that Ervin is better than Romero from this day forward?

It's tempting to be honest. Romero has a nasty change...if he can harness that he might sustain some success. I'd probably still take Ervin though.

yeah im not buyin. he showed this flash of ability and maybe he'll be useful for a string of starts but he'll eventually regress and you'll end up dropping him. if you have room, it can't hurt to pick him up and ride the hot streak for as long as it lasts. i still think marcum will be the best pitcher on that staff (grant it, that probably isn't saying much).

They said Romero's change up was possibly better then Johan's and Hamels last season. It's his wipe-out pitch and he had a lot of early success last season early on but faded down the stretch. The upside is there but again temper expectations in the AL East

RR has been absolutely bringing it vs. the White Sox. I have no room for him or I'd add him, or would you guys recommend dropping Niemann or Feldman to get Ricky Romero in? Thanks for any help/suggestions.

I just dropped Reimold for him and I am happy about it. i play Reimold once a week and thats today and he goes 0fer then wastes away on my bench. You gotta add Rickster after a performance like hes got going right now.

Romero was 6th in the majors last year among starters in GB%. His success is no fluke. Well...maybe the 12 Ks are.
