Holland and Feliz...are they starting?

Postby SOUTHSIDE HITMEN » Thu Mar 25, 2010 12:33 pm

I looked @ Espn's and CBS depth chart and they say both are coming out of the bullpen. Anyone have any insight on the Ranger pitching depth?

I jest read Neyer's piece on ESPN and he said that the Rangers are expecting their starting 5 to be:
Harden, Feldman, CJ Wilson, Colby Lewis and Matt Harrison. Which put Feliz & Holland in the pen.

In our league 12 team points league, average SP that qualify as RP score as much as elite RP. I need to pick up C Richard and I was wondering if Feliz has more upside right? I need to drop Holland for Richard.

I believe that I read Feliz would be in the pen and Holland would be starting at AAA to open the season, but I can't be 100% sure.

Thanks Rhino and Pimpin. Do you guys agree that Feliz has more upside and he's the one to keep?

Feliz has way more upside than Richard. Richard should benefit from PETCO, but overall looks pretty meh to me. I'd also keep tabs on Holland. I really like Holland long term, and wouldn't be at all surprised to see him as a useful player this year at somepoint.

I'll add on that BP hit the nail on the head. Most likely Holland will start in Triple-A to stay stretched out while Feliz is used in the bullpen. I think that's a smart move by the Rangers as it'll delay his arb time some (though that's not the main benefit of sending him down) and keep him stretched out and working on going through a lineup multiple times. If injuries or ineffectiveness were to crop up in the Rangers rotation, I'd imagine they'd have a short leash and go to Holland quickly if he pitches well.

These are RP projections for my league. You see that Richard is a top ten RP with a very ordinary 10-12 record with 180 inn and 128 K. It's a keeper league and I can't drop Bedard, Volquez, Lilly, Rasmus, Carlos Gonzalez or R martin. So it's either Holland or Feliz for me to drop.
