$260 budget, standard 5x5, keeper. I am a veteran of numerous pedulum drafts, but this was the first ever auction draft attempted by my friends and I. We are running it concurrently to our normal league, a snake draft, 10x8, non-keeper, which drafts next weekend. Who knows? We may go all auction next year......This draft was a BLAST!!! We all had fun!

Our positions are : C-1B-2B-3B-SS-OF-OF-OF-UT-P-P-P-P-P-P. The rest are bench....

Mike Piazza $18
Adam Dunn 5
Bret Boone 25
Troy Glaus 10
Angel Berroa 10
Vernon Wells 29
Chipper Jones 16
Dimitri Young 8
Hideki Matsui 3
Trot Nixon 3
Nick Johnson 4
Milton Bradley 6
Michael Young 11
Victor Martinez 8
Josh Phelps 2

Mark Prior 37
Barry Zito 22
Kerry Wood 22
Kip Wells 4
Vincete Padilla 5
Tim Wakefield 1
Danny Kolb 1
Eddie Guardado 5

Wound up with $6 bucks left over.....damn!!

I think I am light on closers, possibly overpayed for Piazza and I have six bench batters, which I feel is about three too many. I also took no real "prospects" but did load up on several young guys for less than $10, whom I'll be able to keep for a couple years, at least.

Any thoughts or analysis or critique.....?

All input appreciated! Thanks guys!! ;-D

I think you did okay, or at least, a little better than me in my first auction (please check my thread). I also wound up with Dunn and Piazza and paid more for them. We paid the same for Chipper. Based on the other prices, I think Brett Boone went a little high. Was Prior the most expensive player in your league. At $42, he was tied with A-Rod in mine. You got very good starters, and I think Dunn, Matsui, Nixon, Nick Johnson and Danny Kolb will turn out to be bargains. How did you get a closer for $1 anyway? Did everyone run out of money? That's what happened in my league. You should definitely try to deal for another closer. You could probably deal Victor Martinez, as it looks like Piazza is in good health and should revert to his customary numbers. But you have a strong bench, so you shouldn't have trouble picking up a couple of cheap closers like Riske or Arthur Rhodes.

Hey, looks good, another league coming over to the auction format! Love to see that!
First thoughts are that youve got a nice rotation and as was mentioned could use one more closer or a closer in waiting maybe. I like your offense though, looks like a good distribution of power and speed througout. The only hitting category you may lack a little in is Average, but thats kinda a crapshoot anyway. Good luck!
