'strikeouts in a game' record

The article about RJ was written during the week when he struck out 20, and it says they didn't allow him to share the 9-inning record. But like "bell", I think they reconsidered that decision later.

I listened to that game on the radio. RJ was pitching against my Reds. It was just amazing to hear all the strikeouts. If he didn't get the record, it was because the Reds' pitcher that night also pitched a whale of a game (just without the strikeouts), so that the game had to go extra innings.

You beat me to the punch. Cheney does have the record for most Ks in a "game".
