Mauer has always hit the ball really hard. he ALWAYS makes solid contact.. this year I have see him pull the ball more than anytime in his career.. especially to the right center power alley.. but the funny thing is that he only does it when he can mash to the gap..

he could always slap the ball the other way with that fading line drive.. I just think he is getting more confidence in his ability to destroy pitchers mistakes..

I honestly think we are just scratching the surface here.. if I had to guess, I'd say we are looking at a Pujols type hitter here. just not quite as strong.. averaging .335 with 25-30 hr for the rest of his career is not at all out of the realm of possibility..

yay, another non Mauer hater, I would rather have him on my roster over some of the inconsitent stars at this position, the only other player that is to being close to consitent at Catcher is Brian McCann.

The ones in the Cafe earlier claiming his power would tail off drastically after the break, and the ones on this post saying he is on roids

I'm pretty sure that GF was kidding but I could be wrong because he does act like he bumped his head one too many time.

Yoda wrote:He is a line drive hitter who is still growing. The thought was that he would reach 20 HR in his peak by turning some of those doubles into HRs. I think he is a legit 20 HR threat going forward but as always has been, the key is his health.

The argument here is if he's really a 30+ hr hitter. I think the majority believes he can continue to be a 20 hr hitter.
