were they saying his sinker wasn't sinking? some site was saying that's why he lost.

Fangraphs doesn't have his pitchFx up from last night yet. I'll check that once they do.

Also, he throws a 4-seamer, changeup, and slider.

yeah, i read this rotowire bit:

Wells gave up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks in 5.1 innings Sunday. He struck out three.

Spin:
Wells has been consistent since getting the call a couple months ago, and this off outing took place at Coors Field where his sinker wasn't working. We wouldn't read too much into this.

He was having trouble locating his stuff. Given that is his forte, I wouldn't read too much into the outing yesterday and expect him to return to form at Wrigley vs. Pitt.

Interesting. Seems he does throw a sinker and pitchFx doesn't "see" those:

Pitch Types
FA - Fastball
CU - Curveball
FT - Two-seam Fastball
CH - Changeup
FC - Cutter
SL - Slider
FS - Splitter
KN - Knuckleball
PO - Pitchout
IN - Intentional Ball
AB - Automatic Ball
UN - Unknown Pitch

Fangraphs.com wrote:Wells has a four pitch mix with a fastball, sinker, change-up and slider, and as I noted, it’s the slider that’s been the major key to his success.

They must record it as a regular four-seamer. That's a fairly large hole in pitchFx's setup, imo.

He had a bad outing. Whether it had something to do with playing in Colorado or not, he's still a Rook. He'll have these.

And it's not like he's never going to pitch in Colorado again. If he's going to stick in the Bigs he'll have to learn to pitch there sometime.
Keep wreves in General Talk in 2011!

sinker prob recorded as 2 seamer.

Randy Wells is not for me. Name me a pitcher who has been a good fantasy pitcher for a long time with a strikeout rate that low. Maybe somebody like Mark Beuhrle, if that's his ceiling he may have some decent fantasy years but it doesn't get me wet.
