he said in the post game he just didnt pitch well

as a Tigers fan i'm willing to give him a mulligan, not sure if it was nerves or what. also it's the 3rd time he's faced the O's this season...not sure how much that matters though

Just wanted to let everyone know that the reason Washburn's sucked is simply because I've been starting him.

Aug 2 - Acquired him
Aug 4 vs BAL, 5.1 IP, 6 ER - started him
Aug 9 vs MIN, 6.0 IP, 5 ER - started him
Aug 14 vs KC, 8.0 IP, 0 ER - benched him
Aug 20 vs SEA, 6.0 IP, 6 ER - started him

My apologies to everyone who has him, but I will most likely have to start him for his two-start week next week. :-/

The reason is because he looked much shinier than he really was. Hooray for a flyball pitcher with a RH-killing home park and the best OF defense in baseball! Shocking how he isn't "pitching" as good without those things. O:-)

I agreed to the trade in my league before he was traded in real life. :~(

He's overrated, but the wind in Detroit was crazy today.

Yup. He's better than BP will give him credit for, and he's worse than some Tiger fanboys were when we traded for him.

Seriously, how good do you think he is? If you think he's really a top 20 pitcher based on his ERA, then you're crazy. If you actually look at the things under his control (i.e. batted ball profile, Ks, BBs, etc.) then you can see he's not among the top 50 starters. Go check out the FIP leaderboard at fangraphs or the tRA and tRA* leaderboards at statcorner. He was not that good even with Seattle. He benefited from a home park that suited him terrifically and a fabulous OF defense.

He's the exact same pitcher that stole our money for three years, it's just that he has appeared to be awesome this year due to things out of his control (low BABIP, high strand rate, low HR/FB until yesterday, etc.). He is who we thought he was.

Again, I think he's better than you are giving him credit for.....which isn't necessarily saying much in itself. He's been pitching over his head, but he was still a decent addition to Detroit's rotation at the expense of another mid-level (if he maximizes all of his possible potential) prospect.
