Did a "mock draft" in yahoo public league - what a joke!

Wow, this seems to have turned into one big "rate my team/my team is so good" orgy. :-b

On another note, is anyone finding it a bit annoying when people are posting their teams that are obviously better than anyone else's in their public leagues? What is this, one big testosterone fest?

I hate inactives more than anyone....reason I quit Yahoo and made my own commish leagues at Sportsline.

Yahoo is full of quitters.....at least this guy admits he's quitting!! The worst thing is when a manager suddenly goes dead and you never hear a thing.

I'm sure you wouldn't want others quitting on you.

Your team is awful. I would not be proud of that draft at all.

1) Agreed this was not very zen-like of me. Maybe I'll drop in on them occassionally to remind them who's boss, maye make sure I'm at least not starting injured guys or complete busts.

2) This is NOT a "rate my team" thread, I repeat it was just an anecdotal statement about yahoo! public leagues. That point seems to have slipped past many of you.

TheRawDAWG wrote:Ummmm, hey bud, your team isn't that good. It's manageable but not great. I wouldn't be disappointed coming out of the draft with this team but I definately wouldn't be as cocky as you are. I went through all your picks and found no real HUGE shockers when I gave them all a round. Here goes:

1: Soriano
2:Maggs
3:Vazquez
4: Abreu
5:Dotel
6:Beckett
7: Berkman
8: Webb
9: Tex
10: Matsui
11: Sweeney
12: Ensberg
13: Cordero
14: Sanchez
15: Millar
16: Julio
17: Phillips
18: Peavy
19: Hampton
20: Baez
21: J. Williams

Now this is based on where I think they should go as well as my experiences in drafts so far this season. I don't see one that went way later then they should have. I'd actually like to see where you really did draft these guys.

Umm, hey bud, check out the cbs experts draft, for the most part all those guys went earlier than where you list them, even when you factor in that theirs was a 14 man draft:

That said, I'm not trying to defend this draft as the king of all drafts. I was drafting off the cuff with no cheat sheets or anything in front of me so I wasn't really focused on exploiting the weak competition to the fullest extent possible, if I saw a guy who looked like a steal when it was my turn I'd often just pounce without scouring the full range of possibilities.

However, I will admit that I don't think I could come away with a team like this in the leagues I play in (where I do draft armed to the teeth with cheat cheets, etc.). If this is par for the course in your leagues, than I tip my hat to you.

I must agree with most of the other replyers. I don't see this team as being that great. They're decent and likely a middle of the road finisher. I won't guarantee anything because if we all knew the worth of all players then each draft would be the same. Soriano is a standout on the infield but the rest of them are good, not great. Pitching is a big weak spot. Beckett's gonna be a great pitcher but most likely not this year. Again, good, not great. This team is average and if I had to bet on it, this team will finish in the middle third of a public league.

Ummmmmmm, hey bud, is that the same draft everyone thought was a joke? Pujols 4th? You can honestly take that draft seriously? Experts? seems like the office got the secretaries together to do a baseball draft.
