6 Game suspension for Burnett?

I know it amounts to just one start for AJ, but why wasn't Padilla disciplined? He started the whole thing and was obviously throwing at Teixeira and hit him twice.

MLB doesn't like it when pitches end up near a batter's head. They've been pretty consistent with these types of suspensions in recent seasons.

Besides, suspending Padilla would help his team more than hurt it.

Padilla only got a fine because he didn't try to hit a guy in the head.

I don't remember anything happening to Pedro when he threw over Karim Garcia's head during the 2003 playoffs.

That's because all the Red Sox players are universally known as good guys, so there is no reason to unjustly punish them for anything that happens on the field. If something inappropriate happens, it should be assumed to be an accident, no matter how purposeful it looks.

The game is a lot different then it was in 2003. Plus Nelson Cruz did nothing wrong, he has played the game right in his short time in the majors. Karim Garcia was a nutcase who jumped into the bullpen to fight a groundskeeper.

Yeah, but Padilla actually hit the guy, Twice. AJ just made his batter eat some dirt. Hitting a guy in the head is not so bad, the helmet takes away the sting. It's much more dangerous hitting those exposed hind parts.

Time in NYC is measured differently then in Texas. Texas time is based on the amount of Steer that walk through Downtown Dallas per day where as NYC measures it's time by the amount of Rat's that eat poodles per month. Therefore 6 new york days only ='s 3 Texas Days.

It's simple math and zoology

Maybe MLB assumed Padilla would be punished enough when Cruz catches him in a dark alley later. As Tex said, I can't imagine guys appreciate it when their own teammate gets them thrown at for being a immature sleezebag with no skill.

I guess MLB feels Padilla got punished enough by being put on waivers by the Rangers after the game.
