Ellsbury hitting 8th against a RHP now too?

Postby Maris09 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 6:31 pm

Tonight against Porcello they've got Pedrioa leading off and Ells hitting 8th. Seems odd.
He is hitting .300 (.299) :-?

From what I've heard, Tito is none too pleased with Jacoby's OBP according to CBS.

On the plus side, he hinted at allowing Ellsbury to be more aggressive at #8.

My opinion: :-t

He's finally hitting where he should be.

So is Pedroia the leadoff man now or is this some sort of test Francona is putting to Ellsbury?

I would expect Ellsbury to be extra agressive on basepaths in the 8th hole. I hope Pedroia doesnt get too crazy since he isnt the quickest of guys and my league scores caught steals.

I think moving him down in the order was to take a little pressure off of him and allow him to use his speed more effectively. Batting at the top of the lineup, he really didn't have the green light. Despite the hitting streak, pitchers aren't affraid of him right now so they are pounding the strike-zone with fastballs - hurting his OBP.

Despite conventional thinking, this may actually be the case, strangely. As an owner I hope so to help counteract the hit in Runs he's likely to take.
