These aren't good things for a guy who's had his character questioned before, but could explain the dramatic production jump when he moved to a more challenging league.
I haven't seen anybody question his ability.
The Pirates will not promote top prospect Pedro Alvarez this season.
Alvarez has hit 23 home runs this season and leads the Eastern League with a .440 August batting average. "We really like what Pedro has done with the bat, but he still has some strides to make with his glove," said Pirates GM Neal Huntington. "It's not just about his offensive performance.
