What happens to Pierre when Manny comes back?

When Manny was first suspended, consensus was that upon his return Pierre would be relegated back to the bench, unless the Dodgers could find someone to take Pierre's contract off their hands via trade. However the more I get a look at the Dodgers offense with Pierre at the top, the more it seems like he may be too valuable an asset to bench or trade away. With Furcal not providing LA with that leadoff bat like they thought, has Pierre become a player they need to find room for now?

Looking at the situation there are a few possibilities:
-Dodgers find someone to take Pierre's big contract.
-Pierre returns to the bench/fill in duty.
-Pierre splits time with Kemp and Ethier.
-Dodgers move Ethier to 1B so all 4 can play and Loney's weak bat goes to the bench (wishful thinking). :-D

What are everyone's thoughts?

i definitely believe they will have to find a place for him in the everyday lineup. granted, this being a game of attrition , someone else will be on the DL by then and the move will be made for them.

I guess ....though that "somebody" would have to be one of the three outfielders. So not sure I'd count on that to be the decision maker.

The real question is do they still trade him if they can. I guess the answer is yes since his contract is pretty bad, but to me it seems like they need him atop that lineup since Furcal hasn't been/probably isn't the answer there.

Sell him to a team that needs a leadoff hitter.

Right....but aren't the Dodgers a team that needs a leadoff hitter?

Also, would a team really be willing to take on Pierre at his current contract?
What are the Dodgers then going to do for a leadoff hiter?
Can Ethier play any 1B? :-D

Lots of question marks.

Yahoo thinking similar thoughts?....

LF Juan Pierre's bat is so hot, manager Joe Torre might have to juggle the Dodgers outfield when Manny Ramirez returns. Since Pierre took over for Ramirez in left field, he's batting .410 with a .489 on-base percentage.

I hope the Dodgers can finally ship off Pierre before or at the deadline for another front-of-the-rotation starter, something they lack with Bills being the only constant and Wolf holding down the fort for now.

I think much of it depends on if Pierre can sustain the hot streak until Manny comes back and why wouldn't Pierre keep hitting to milk all the PT he has now. If I can take a guess, once Manny comes back, Ethier could sit against lefties as he's continued to struggle against them (only hitting .220) although he's generally done his best when Manny's in the heart of the order. Of course, by the same token, the "work in progress" treatment Torre gives Kemp (he's walked more albeit whiffing at about the same rate as last year) might also lead him to be shuffled around. It's an unsettled situation if things hold once Manny returns.

As for 1B, as Snakes touched upon, Loney is a defensive asset even if he's been a lukewarm hitter, at least in fantasy terms.

Man you're taking some good drugs today :-S

Hopefully the A's can ship Crosby for David Wright, then we'll be set X-I

We really haven't touched on the topic of who leads off if Pierre doesn't?

The Dodgers offense has looked far more dynamic with Pierre at the top (even without Manny). So with Furcal not really being the leadoff hitter the Dodgers thought he was, what do they do at that point?
