Pick Soriano, cause 2b blows and hes sick. Pujols wont preform to expectations but Soriano will.
Last year was a fluke. Just like Loaiza.
Not that I'm a tremendous Pujols fan or anything but I am not sure that I can agree that Pujols is 'overrated'.
What's to overrate about .359, 43 HR, 124 RBI and a 1.106 OPS? Or, for 3 years, he's totalling 114 HR (38 HR/ year), 381 RBI (127 RBI/ year), while batting .334 with 1.025 OPS.
Those are pretty excellent #s, he's had a few injury type of things but I've heard stuff to suggest that they pertain to throwing which he ought not to be doing much of at 1B. Sure 1B has a number of other guys who can hit some HR too but nobody w/ the same type of average or recent consistency. Maybe Delgado but he's not quite there. If you are not using hits or average as a stat, you could make a case for him.
The only thing I might think could be a downside for Pujols this year is that both the Cubs and the Astros have improved their pitching (unless Prior's injury is quite a bit more serious than they've said....in which case the Cubs are about even w/ Zambrano older and Maddux...). If the Cards get Benson though, he'll be able to tee off against the Pirates to make up for it.
What do you have on Pujols to suggest that he's overrated?
