Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) - Arizona Diamondbacks righthander Brandon Webb came to terms on a three-year contract Friday. The deal includes a club option for 2007.
Webb finished third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting last season, behind Florida's Dontrelle Willis and Milwaukee's Scott Podsednik.
With the loss of Curt Schilling in the off-season, Webb is expected to step into the No. 2 spot in Arizona's rotation this year, behind lefthander Randy Johnson.
The 24-year-old Webb did an admirable job in his first season in the majors, as he compiled a 10-9 record with a 2.84 earned run average in 28 starts. However, his September was rough, as he had a 4.20 ERA in five starts.
