Need help with keeper strategy

Postby gogogadget » Mon Apr 20, 2009 12:36 pm

I have never played in a keeper league before this season. Our league allows up to 11 keepers for our 21 man roster. I just wanted to hear some thoughts on how to decide whether or not to keep the entire 11 keepers, or start drafting a few rounds earlier than everyone else. My team is fairly young, I can pick out 7 or 8 to keep automatically but I dont know if I would benefit or not if I started drafting from the pool at round 8 versus round 11. What are some factors you guys consider when choosing those last few keepers. Thanks.

just in case here is my roster:

C Yadier Molina
1B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B)
2B Ian Kinsler (Tex - 2B)
3B Chipper Jones (Atl - 3B)
SS Derek Jeter (NYY - SS)
OF Nelson Cruz (Tex - OF)
OF Carlos Quentin (CWS - OF)
OF Matt Kemp (LAD - OF)
Util Ryan Howard (Phi - 1B)
BN Orlando Hudson (LAD - 2B)
BN Jay Bruce (Cin - OF)
BN Matt Weiters (Bal - C)

SP Rich Harden, ChC SP
SP Ted Lilly, ChC SP
RP Joakim Soria, KC RP
RP Brian Fuentes, LAA RP
P Scott Kazmir, TB SP
P Yovani Gallardo, Mil SP
P Aaron Harang, Cin SP
BN Chris Volstad, Fla SP
BN Edwin Jackson, Det SP

This belongs in DTKW but you have at least 13 players that should be gone by the 11th round next year in a keeper. I would keep your best 11.
