Should I make a run at Hanley??

Postby lyons595 » Sat Apr 11, 2009 10:08 pm

I have a ton of power and want to add avg, SB, and/or a solid RP (there are quite a few decent RP on FA). I feel like I have the ability to fill in gaps if I were to offer Howard, Fielder, or Vlad plus Hardy. Please let me know if you see any other weaknesses.

ESPN, h2h, 10 team. Cats: avg, r, hr, rbi, sb; w, k, sv, era, whip.

C Bengie Molina
1B Ryan Howard
2B Chase Utley
3B Kevin Youkilis
SS J.J. Hardy
OF Carlos Beltran
OF Vladimir Guerrero
OF Bobby Abreu
UTIL Prince Fielder
Bench Hunter Pence

SP Felix Hernandez
SP Scott Baker
SP Matt Garza
SP Ervin Santana (DL)
SP Chris Carpenter
SP Randy Johnson
RP Carlos Marmol
RP Mike Gonzalez
RP Brandon Morow

i like this team alot, i do agree that shopping howard might be a decent thing to do at this time, especially with fielder to fill in that spot....i would look to trade howard for a stud RP and possibly a guy who would hit for a decent average since you want to improve there

I dont know if you need to go after Hanley as he might command a little more then you should give up. I agree with the post above me that shopping Howard would be a great idea. IF you can pick up some RP on the WW then that might be a good idea too. It looks like Marmol won the closing job for the cubs so that will help you out with Saves. Maybe also try to shop Vlad as you might find someone who will give just a little too much to get him seeing as he is getting up their in age.

I would go for Hanley if I were you. You might be able to get him for Howard and plug in Fielder at 1B.

Alternately, you may want to trade Prince and another player for Carl Crawford.

I think you should go for Hanley, obviously Fielder fills in nicely for Howard if you traded him. You could use another solid starting pitcher, (I am not a fan of Ervin Santana,) if you could package Howard and Ervin and get back Hanley and a pitcher I would do it. Also you could try for Jose Reyes, good luck!
