McLouth missed the team's entire three-game series with the Padres after suffering a right oblique strain during batting practice on Friday. Since the initial injury, he reportedly felt better each subsequent day. However, right now a return on Monday looks doubtful, and a return at any point during the Pirates' upcoming three-game set in Milwaukee is not looking promising for McLouth, either. "He's still day-to-day, but probably [a] couple days [away]," manager John Russell said on Sunday. "He's coming around. He is making progress, which is a good sign." There are still no talks about putting McLouth on the DL and there likely won't be as long as McLouth continues to cite improvement over the next few days. McLouth was hitting .259 with a team-high four homers and 14 RBIs before being sidelined.

Per April 27th...

"Manager John Russell says that McLouth (oblique) is "feeling better" but that he probably won't play on Monday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Spin: Russell sounds as though he's hopeful that McLouth will be available sometime in the middle of the week. "It's coming around," Russell said. "But still a few things he can feel: coughing, he can feel it; the rotation [needed in hitting]. Probably [sit him just] a couple days as opposed to day to day." The upside for McLouth appears to be his playing in three or four games in Week 4. Pittsburgh plays three games in Milwaukee starting Monday and is off Thursday before returning home on Friday, where they'll host the Reds all weekend long."

i for see them keeping him out until they start the weekend series at home on Friday against Cincy, if hes still having pain in coughing and his rotation, to me hes not ready to come back, and if they force him back not only will it hurt him further but hell if he can't get through his swing rotation exactly what good will he be? i say Friday at the earliest giving him a full 8 days of rest...
Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...
