i have all three but on different teams.
I ignore closers for some reason. I have 3 teams (although 2 teams are pts) and my only closer is Qualls (in a pts league). I'm hoping for some WW magic (I now have Burton, SCasilla, Blevins and Crain in my roto league).
My ERA is sitting at a nice 8.10 w/ a 1.70 WHIP thanks to B. Morrow (40.50 ERA) and C. Ray (54.00 ERA).
The worst part is that my opponent had the following pitchers go already: P. Maholm (1.35 ERA) A. Wainwright (3.38 ERA) - decent D. Lowe (0.00 ERA) D. Haren (1.29 ERA) H. Bell (0.00 ERA) F. Francisco (0.00 ERA)
luckily Shields threw up a 8.44 ERA on him, so he's sitting at a 2.36 ERA. There's always next week.
It's only two games man, don't despair just yet......but if it makes you feel better who knew both Lincecum and Webb would have bad first starts?? My ERA is horrible too because of that. Two games into the season though so there's no reason to hit the panic button just yet.
With Motte, I wouldn't panic...yet. Try to remember that he is still very raw, being a converted pitcher only in the last two years. He likely isn't used to the pressure situations and it was also opening day after all. He'll another shot, and hopefully he'll relax and let his natural ability take over.
As for Morrow, I might hit the panic button. He had arm issues last year and they crept up again in the spring. He also is having major control issues right now. Those two things are just not a winning combination in the closers role. I see him on the DL in the near future or at the very least in a 7th inning/minors role before long so that he can get the kinks worked out.
