How is this team?

Postby Padres Fan » Wed Mar 18, 2009 9:45 pm

Hello everyone this morning I drafted 3rd in a Yahoo 5x5 Roto 12 team league.

C=Kurt Suzuki
1B=Albert Pujols
2B=Dustin Pedroia
3B=Alex Gordon
SS=Stephen Drew
OF=Carlos Quentin
OF=Matt Kemp
OF=Lastings Milledge
UTIL=Hunter Pence
BN=Adam Jones
BN=Adam Lind
BN=Ian Stewart
BN=Kelly Shoppach

SP=Jake Peavy
SP=James Shields
RP=Joe Nathan
RP=Jon Broxton
P=Ervin Santana
P=Matt Cain
P=Matt Garza
BN=Brad Ziegler

I purposely took a risk on Suzuki and Gordon as sleepers

and I proposed a trade for Pablo Sandoval, Mike Aviles, Mike Pelfrey for Lastings Milledge, Ian Stewart, Kelly Shoppach and Matt Garza.

Leave link and I will comment on yours as well.

Looks good. I don't see many steals, and I wouldn't give up on Garza unless you have a hunch on Pelfrey (which I'm seeing a lot this year)

What are you planning to do with Ervin Santana being out the first month? I like the Shoppach pick as a sleeper, the Indians will find a way to get his bat in the lineup.

Ervin will go on DL and I will pick up a temp pitcher, I like Shoppach too but between Sandoval (yahoo eligibility at c,1b,3b) and Mike Aviles (2b,ss) my infield bench will be covered, with Jones and Lind in the OF bench, Jones should steal plenty of bases and might look at Victorino for Pence and move Quentin to Util

I personally would prefer Sandoval over Suzuki if you can get that trade to go. Truthfully, I would probably try to do the spot start of Shoppach in favor of Suzuki, not really sure what you can expect from Suzuki.
Gordon, I wouldn't mind having on my team in the 3b slot. But then again, I had Cabrera fall to me at the 8th pick so I snatched him up in about 1 nanosecond. ;-D

Pitcher wise you have decent depth at top of your rotation.

I see .275 15 hrs from Suzuki, and Shoppach has more trade value right now and I do like Sandoval

Yuo have great pitcher depth. ERvin's injured though. Sandova is the way to go.

What do you think about mine?

id keep the players you have instead of doing the trade you proposed. Milledge is the best player in that trade. he could really break out this season. you do have other OF who could play instead of Milledge like Jones who i also think is good. i do like Garza more than Pelfry. Stewart if starting could be better than Aviles.
im not sold on Suzuki, but i guess there is potential there. he could have 10-15 HR with .280+ AVG. if i was convinced Shoppach would get consistant playing time i think maybe id want him over Suzuki. Shoppach should have more HR, but probually not as good AVG.
you could maybe use more SB. i wouldnt count on Pedroia getting 20 again. he should/could get 15ish. Milledge and Kemp should/could get 30+. Gordon should get some good SB. im not sure what id expect from Pence. last season he had 11 SB but 10 CS. one could figure his SB success should be better, but maybe the Astros dont let him run as often?
i like the pitchers. Peavy and Shields are solid, good for all categories. Santana when he does return should be good. Cain should be better if he can get some damn run support in SF, and i really like Garza potential.

I doubt the trade will go through anyway, I just like having a offensive bench that covers all positions since I usaully do daily updates depending on who is hot or playing, plus I do daily pitching pick ups for probable starters thats why my pitching backend is a little weak
