How can I learn math concepts used in fantasy analysis?

Postby reenum » Wed Mar 11, 2009 2:11 pm

I've been reading the Baseball Prospectus, FanGraphs, and a few other sabermetric sites lately, and am wondering if there are any elementary books that can help me devise my own metrics to analyze fantasy stats.

Any suggestions?
I never smile if I can help it.... Showing one's teeth is a submission signal in primates. When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.

The most important thing is to learn the basics of statistics. A little database/data mining background is useful, too.

Some of these SABR guys, though, do things you need some significant schooling to perform.
Others are much better at data manipulation. Getting at this data is often extraordinarily tedious.
