Spring Training Tracker

Postby AquaMan2342 » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:42 pm

I'm not really aware of how much correlation there is between a strong spring training and regular season, but since I don't feel like browsing through every box score every day, I figured if anybody watches or follows ST games with a close eye that we could perhaps find some late round sleepers through good ol' discussion.

Glenn Perkins looked pretty good against the Sox. He didn't shut them down but he did a good job.

Beckett looked sharp in his outing against BC today for what it's worth (probably worth less than the words I just typed).

Buchholz appears to be back to his normal arm slot after trying to tweak with it last season. He's still unlikely to be up with the big club at the start of the season with all of the other SP arms the Sox have. He'll have an impact on the big league and fantasy clubs at some point this season though.

I don't pay attention to spring stats at all. See who won jobs, and health issues, but stats, no.

Bob Welch won 27 and a CY, after posting a 30 spring era.

Candy Maldonado and Russell Branyan have lead in spring hrs.

Point taken, but there are plenty of anecdotal items that go the other way. The season Howard hit 10 bombs in ST people said it's just spring training, and then boom, he lead the majors almost out of nowhere. When Thome came back from injury he kept having 2HR games in ST and had a late ADP....so people that jumped on his ST numbers got what basically amounted to a top 15 fantasy guy that year. Uggla had a nice ST one year too when he was an unkown.

Anyway...Kouz hit a bomb today. Nice. Clayton Richard pitched 2 scoreless, and Alexei stole a base.
