crawford and pierre

Postby intense » Sun Mar 07, 2004 10:54 pm

I own both of them.... could I deal pierre to fill in my roster wholes and sub in crawford without really noticing any real loss?

Is it possible crawfords pierre-like numbers last year were a fluke?

I think Crawford will have the better year. He may be a little lower in average but I think he will have more steals, rbis, and hrs(although it could be hard to surpass pierre's lofty 1 hr a year :-D ). Runs should be about even. Basically, Crawford is a young Pierre with a whole lot more upside.

You would probably get a little more trade value out of Pierre.

Yea, for sure, in my league people are valuing him highly, but the question is will crawford = him or do better...?

Well, I like Pierre better myself because of the better OBP and the fact that he doesn't strike out. Crawford's OBP was only .309 last season and Lou didn't shy away from putting him at the bottom of the order. Crawford is still quite young, and he does have a little more pop. But if you're really just wanting to know if he'll repeat his SB total from last season, then I would like to think he will at least come close to it.

Pierre goes a little early for my tastes so Crawford is a better value. That said, Pierre has better trade value and Crawford should fill in nicely for him.

Pierre is definitely more of a sure thing, but if you've got plenty of speed on your team (and Crawford will at least steal 20, even if he starts walking from 1st to 2nd), then Pierre is good trade material to some GM that forgot about steals during the draft.
(taps little picture of a microphone)... is this thing on?
