Is Affeldt this year's Santana?

Postby nsulham » Sun Mar 07, 2004 10:12 pm

The more I think about it, the more I say it could be.

Both were dominant lefty middle men who each had an obstacle to get over before making the rotation (Santana getting a chance, Affeldt with the blisters)

With KC's improved lineup, and should he stay healthy, I think Affeldt's got some really nice value.

List your roster and other waiver wire pitchers, and I'll give you my opinion

I like your pitching, it'd be close between affeldt and risky rookie jackson or recovering stud burnett. So what I'd do is pick up affeldt for burnitz, with your OF I don't thinkk burnitz is a need. He might hit 35 homers but he will bat .240. I think with affeldt and your other pitchers someone will reallly shine as a sleeper.

Also I really don't like wickman, maybe drop him for affeldt, or there is probably an another reliever better than wickman.

you think it would be worth it for me to deal burnitz and magglio for sexson and wolf? I think I may drop wickman for affeldt, since I already have 3 quality closers...

Thats a close one, I don't think wolf will be special enough to make up the difference between mags and sexson. I like your pitching, I don't think you need wolf. Try trading your hitting depth for a catcher.
At any given time I'm probably doing one of these two things:

Praying that J.D. Drew plays 150 games this year.

or

Cursing Pat Burrell and his family, oh how you let me down last year.

I would do that trade if I were you...

You can move Thomas to the Util spot, or trade him if you want (I would if I could get something worth while) and Wolf is a MAJOR upgrade over Burnitz on your team
Fantasy sports are ruled by the 50-50-90 rule...

Anytime you have a 50/50 choice between two players, 90% of the time, you'll get it wrong
