Where will Matt Wieters start the season?

I think it's best to remember that Matt has had only one full professional year of playing experience. He has only 200 or something at-bats in Double-A. In all likelihood, he will start the year at [Triple-A] Norfolk. That's a pretty good jump for him. Then I think how he does, and how our catching is doing here, would be a determination when and if he comes up over the course of the 2009 season. Based on his past performance, I would suspect that he would get here sometime [in 2009], but the exact date, I don't know.

He could use a month in AAA, but I don't he will be down too much after that. Because I doubt he will need to be there longer to show he's ready.

There's no point in losing a year of production by having him starts in the majors for a team that shouldn't have a chance against 3 World Series contenders in their same division. They have to let him start in AAA.

not that it means anything or that Yahoo knows anything but I find it interesting that when Yahoo opened he was like 770 something and now he is ranked in the low 100's ( I don't recall the exact rankings ). I know Yahoo tweaks their rankings from time to time but that is a large move in a couple of days from the opening of Yahoo until now.
