4th year keeper league, WHIR

Postby JimHorwege » Thu Jan 29, 2009 8:10 pm

hey guys, this is the 4th year of this 16 team, 7x7 league (R, 2b, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS), (W, SV, H, Ks, K/9, WHIP, ERA). We kept 10 players. After bowing out in the playoffs last year i have made some major changes with my roster. Ive traded Roberts, Soriano, Vasquez, CC and Atkins for players like Kinsler, Hamilton, Beckett, Haren, Garza and draft picks that helped me get Zimmerman, Liriano and Gordon. Please give suggestions on where i can improve. Thanks

for a 16 team league your team is ABSOLUTELY awesome. I would not mess with your team now as I would fear making it worse. Yes you have some stars of tomorrow (Cruz, CB Young, Smizarjda) but its beautifully blended with stars of today (Tex, Reyes, Kinsler, Linc, Haren, Beckett). Great trades you made earlier to get these pieces.

Sorry I could not have provided constructive criticism (only praise).

Good Luck.

This really is a great team. The biggest weak spots are probably Kotchman and Young (if he doesn't bounce back). It being a 16 team league I'd guess that Kotchman's no worse than the avg. 2nd utility starter. Does the H in pitching categories stand for hits or holds? If holds, then that's a big weakness but if hits then I guess not (I haven't had it as a category in a roto league).

Also, as hype builds on nelson cruz, more people will expect him to hit like a top pick, with 30 HRs and 100 RBIs. While it is possible that he will do this, if you can deal him for someone who is more likely to hit like that then I think that would be a good case of selling high.

Can you help with mine?

It's a really good team for a 16-teamer like the others said. As far as hitting goes, I'm not sure if you have enough hitters that hit for a high avg. but if Zimmerman bounces back to pre-07 levels you should be fine. In regards to pitching, I think it's a good staff. Keep an eye on the guys like Miller and Garland, they can become a drag in the hits and ks departments.
He once hit a ball between my legs so hard that my center-fielder caught it on the fly backing up against the wall.

If Satch (Paige) and I were pitching on the same team, we would clinch the pennant by July fourth and go fishing until World Series time.
