See latest MDP article by clicking on rankings on left side of page. Upton is an interesting case study. He is being overvalued by Yahoo and grossly undervalued by ESPN. Honestly, his MDP is right where I think it should be, though I'd probably reach for him over Morneau, C.C. and a few others. I also think some people are a little scared off by his shoulder surgery.

Thanks METS 24. Kind words...

Tiers will be updated this weekend. MDP will be updated at least once more, maybe twice. My last draft is on April 4th so I will likely do another update a couple of days before then. I will try and do an earlier update as well, perhaps around the 25th or so.

Make sure the update is on the 28th as my draft is on the 29th ass crack early in the morning.

METS 24 wrote:Bryan, you definitely came through in the clutch with this MDP formula. I officially refer to it as the R&C MDP. I have 2 drafts the last weekend of this month that I am preparing for. One is on Friday the 27th & the other one is on Sunday the 29th. The "R&C MDP" along with the "Tiers" make up 100% of my drafting materials. I just wanted to know if there be another update after the 27th of this month or will I be lucky enough to have the final update to bring to my drafts? Please let me know. Thanks. "Let's Go Mets!"

You should download the drafttracker that's in Yoda's sig too, that has R&Cs MDP in it, tiered rankings, projections, and a whole lot of numbers. I say it's definitely something you should look into if you're loving the MDP.

OK, I did some Yahoo mocks using MDP as my rankings. My basic guidelines were that I would only select players among the top 12 available in MDP, hoping to scoop up anyone who was falling and not to reach for anyone. Here are the results by round:

Team 1 (Drafted 12th)

1. Mark Teixeira (NYY - 1B)
2. Chase Utley (Phi - 2B)
3. Ichiro Suzuki (Sea - OF)
4. Cole Hamels (Phi - SP)
5. Álex Ríos (Tor - OF)
6. Chipper Jones (Atl - 3B)
7. Stephen Drew (Ari - SS)
8. Nate McLouth (Pit - OF)
9. Joey Votto (Cin - 1B)
10. Jonathan Broxton (LAD - RP)
11. Carlos Mármol (ChC - RP)
12. Yovani Gallardo (Mil - SP)
13. Matt Wieters (Bal - C)
14. Matt Garza (TB - SP)
15. John Danks (CWS - SP)
16. Erik Bedard (Sea - SP)
17. Matt Lindstrom (Fla - RP)
18. Joey Devine (Oak - RP)
19. Gavin Floyd (CWS - SP)
20. Delmon Young (Min - OF)
21. Brad Ziegler (Oak - RP)

Team 2 (Drafted 6th)
1. Ryan Braun (Mil - OF)
2. Matt Holliday (Oak - OF)
3. CC Sabathia (NYY - SP)
4. Brian Roberts (Bal - 2B)
5. Alexei Ramírez (CWS - 2B,SS,OF)
6. Geovany Soto (ChC - C)
7. Josh Beckett (Bos - SP)
8. Hunter Pence (Hou - OF)
9. Scott Kazmir (TB - SP)
10. Ryan Zimmerman (Was - 3B)
11. Brian Fuentes (LAA - RP)
12. Chris Young (SD - SP)
13. James Loney (LAD - 1B)
14. Chris Young (Ari - OF)
15. Aaron Harang (Cin - SP)
16. Heath Bell (SD - RP)
17. Clayton Kershaw (LAD - SP)
18. Alex Gordon (KC - 3B)
19. Fausto Carmona (Cle - SP)
20. Chris Ray (Bal - RP)
21. Delmon Young (Min - OF)

Team 3 (Drafted 3rd)
1. Albert Pujols (StL - 1B)
2. Álex Rodríguez (NYY - 3B)
3. Matt Holliday (Oak - OF)
4. Jake Peavy (SD - SP)
5. Vladimir Guerrero (LAA - OF)
6. Francisco Rodríguez (NYM - RP)
7. Derek Jeter (NYY - SS)
8. Joey Votto (Cin - 1B)
9. Robinson Canó (NYY - 2B)
10. Jay Bruce (Cin - OF)
11. Edinson Vólquez (Cin - SP)
12. Kerry Wood (Cle - RP)
13. Edwin Encarnación (Cin - 3B)
14. Matt Capps (Pit - RP)
15. Aaron Harang (Cin - SP)
16. Justin Upton (Ari - OF)
17. Mike Napoli (LAA - C)
18. Joe Saunders (LAA - SP)
19. Fausto Carmona (Cle - SP)
20. Justin Duchscherer (Oak - SP)
21. Brad Ziegler (Oak - RP)

I did make minor changes based on my position needs, but I pretty much stuck to the plan. Honestly, it was some of the easiest drafting I've ever done and the results look very solid to me. The third team in particular looks like a title contender (although it's kind of odd how I ended up with most of the Yankees infield).

Honestly, looking at those drafts, I see value in nearly every pick. It also puts blinders on you in position runs and such.

Nice job. Not surprised that Votto and Holliday each ended up on 2 of your teams given how undervalued they are on Yahoo.

This post also reminds me of another think I don't like about Yahoo. Accents. They are the only site to use them and I have to remove them all (using find/replace for each vowel) before using VLOOKUP. :-P
