It's the last All-Star Game in Yankee Stadium, so I doubt somebody from outside The Big Apple, let alone The Big Continent could possibly understand the implications that come into play here. Derek Jeter is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, and Ichiro is a classless, arrogant punk if he thinks that it is his speeches that propel the AL to victory and not The Captain's will, determination, and pumping of the fist. I've lost all respect for Ichiro.
Get over it. He's having fun...
And he can back it up too, he averages over eight seasons:
.331 Avg, 113 R, 229 H, 9 HR, 60 RBI, 41 SB <<< Not too shabby, no?
Oh, and that's not to mention a Rookie of the Year, All-Star every year, six MVP nominations, and one award... LOL, the guy's a beast!
Am I ragging on Jeter? No way - He's freaking awesome. I'm just saying you need to understand that Ichiro is brutally good, and if he wants to have some fun and unite a team the one time it can happen in the year (and supposedly it works), then let him. Furthermore, this Yankee pride nonsense about "the Captain" is just lame.
