I know he has Ned Yosts support - but for how long? He has lousy plate discipline and looks like a AAA hitter. The Sbs and pop are appealing in fantasy - but if you continually struggle to stay above the mendoza line how long can you stay in the leadoff spot?
No plate discipline?? His BB rate is 12.6%!! That's good!! The only thing holding him down is his avg. His babip is at an absurdly low .229!! That can't stay that low all year. He does swing and miss alot, but his K% is still better than it's been in the past, though it's still pretty high at 20%. A little luck and he'll start gettin more hits, and really start puttin up numbers.
Ouch. I was blinded by all the exclamation points in your post. Anyway you offer up some interesting data - Thank You. You can go Saber all day on him - but his batting average indicates that hes not getting the job done - plain and simple.
I too am a believer in the fact that he's getting it done with the terrible AVG...and I can't wait until that happens (although the longer it takes the more I wonder)...so far on the year, among 2B, he's 4th in R, 4th in HR, 16th in RBI (okay...bad), 11th in SB, and -178th in AVG...
Weeks has all the support from Yost. He isn't going to be dropped in the line-up. However I also don't think his average will get to .230 this year. He has never shown he can hit for average in the bigs. He does fill in the other stats quite well though. He will always get runs because of the big boys behind him but I think he gets a lot of his runs because he is an excellent base runner. I haven't seen a player in the past 3 years go 1st to 3rd better or faster.

I like Kelly Johnson over Rickie Weeks. Although Cox will still sit him everyonce in awhile for Infante, I like his production at the top of a good Atlanta lineup, more then the production of Weeks in a young, but also talented Brewers lineup. Its close, but thats my opinion.
