Rookie question, where do I need help?

Postby Counterfit » Sat May 24, 2008 2:16 am

I'm in a 10 team total points league in which I can keep 3 keepers. Right now I have more keepers/marginal keepers than I know what to do with, my instant thought is to concolidate and try and score top 10 players. I "think" I need help at starting pitching but Ive been told that my guys are good but they are just not performing yet. Here's my team, all positions start 1 except outfield (3), SP (5), RP (3)

C Varitek, Posada(DL)
1B Konerko, Jacobs
2B Uggla
3B Arod, Braun
SS M. Young, Furcal
OF Braun, Soriano, Crawford, Byrnes, Ankiel, Willingham (yeah pretty loaded)
1 UTL spot

SP Sabathia, Verlander, Cain, Billingsley, B. Myers
RP Putz, BJ Ryan, K. Gregg, B Wilson, Smoltz (DL but will fill stay in as one of my SP's to basically give me an extra RP)

my weaknesses as I see them are 1B and SP, I have a glut of quality OF and too many relievers but thats my opinion, what do you think I should do? Be brutally honest, I am currently in 7th place in my 10 team league(i just crawled out of the cellar where I had been for the better part of a month.

I would trade one of your closers and an OF for a stud 1st baseman or SP. Or a closer and one of your 1b for an up grade. You have a decent team. I hope this helps. Help me out

Not sure if you're aware of the following about Willingham:

May 20 The Associated Press reports Florida Marlins OF Josh Willingham (back) could be sidelined another month or longer because of a herniated disc that has kept him out since April 27. Willingham underwent an MRI Monday, May 19, and was examined by orthopedist Dr. Robert Watkins. Watkins told Willingham his back needs to be strengthened and it will be 10 days to three weeks before he can resume baseball activities. Willingham said Watkins did not rule out surgery as a last resort.

I had Willingham too, but dropped him today for David Murphy.

Thanks for the info, I dropped Willingham and Myres for Todd Wellemeyer and Justin Duchscherer, I know there both converted bullpin guys but both have been respectable. I wanted to update and ask if anyone could give advice on the trying to consolidate keepers (possibly giving someone a sweet deal) to get my number of keepers on my team down to 3 (league max) right now I see possible keepers as the following and in the order I have them:

Arod
Braun
Crawford
Sabathia
Soriano

*Uggla if he keeps up his hitting might make it into this list as well

so if I dont make some sort of trade then I'll just be repopulating the draft for next year and there are a few teams with only 2 legit keepers (but are still ahead of me in the standings, I'm currently 9 out of 10)

Thanks guys for your insight

Good team. My three keepers would be A-rod, Braun, and Uggla.

Help on mine? http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=349326
