Please give me your thoughts guys.

Postby shoelessjoetara » Tue May 13, 2008 12:45 am

I am in a 14 team roto league. Personally I think I drafted a pretty good team. I was trying to get your opinions on if these guys will just continue to produce under their career average. Aramis Ramirez, David Ortiz, Carlos Guillen, Hideki Matsui and Nick Markakis. I am not expecting any of these guys to have career years. I did not draft them hoping for them to have career years. However I was hoping to at least get their career average. These guys are not even close to a pace to get an average year by their standards. I am currently in 2nd place. Should I take that as good news with these guys struggling and expect them to start producing eventually.I know we are just 7 weeks into the season and last year the same thing happened to me with my offense underachieving and then they took off. I also have Chase Utley and he has been carrying my team. It also seems like Adam Laroche is starting to heat up but I am hoping for my big guns to start producing. Please give me your thoughts. Go easy on me guys I am OCD and I take pride in my team. Thanks

Can you really say that any of those guys are "struggling?" The players you listed have not been bad.

To be honest yes. Matsui is on pace for about 30 RBI under his norm. Samething with Aramis. So is Markakis. He is hitting .266. The categories that matter ,they are way under ther career norm. Will these guys heat up ever?

Aramis is on pace for around 115 RBI I believe.

Matsui isn't racking up the RBI's, but his .323 AVG can't be hurting you.

Markakis is on pace for around a 25-30/20-25 season

Ortiz is on pace for 120+ RBI

Overall..all of these guys have been solid, and Ortiz has been a beast lately

Hasn't Markakis generally done better during the second half of the year?

Aramis is a 2nd half beast, generally speaking. I wouldn't worry about him. I woudln't worry about any of those guys. They aren't slumping, they might be a little below pace, but i think it's still early to be talking about pace in the really specific terms in which you seem to be worrying about it. I think your team looks good, and i wouldn't be worrying about any of those players. If you were talking about Hafner, that would be another deal altogether.

Here is a detailed list of what I am talking of. Give your thoughts on these. In parenthesis is the norm for that player.
Pace vs Avg Numbers
Aramis Ramirez 26 HR (35)
Carlos Guillen 63 RBI ( 90-100)
Nick Markakis 74 RBI ( 100)
Hideki Matsui 59 Runs (100) 17 HR (25) 72 RBI (100)
David Ortiz 89 Runs (115) 28 HR (44) 113 RBI (134)

Ortiz , I am not worried about because he is just starting come out of his funk so I think his pace will be pretty close to projected considering how much he struggled. Give me som more thoughts.

It's still WAY too early to be considering "pace" right now... Take a breath and relax.

In your opinion can those guys still reach those numbers. Like I said I am in 2nd place and these guys are not producing like they should. Same thing happened last year and I won my league. Anyone see a chance of the same thing happening? I know it is to early but its good to hear you have a chance.
