The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.
The Jury wrote:He has been producing well lately due to regular playing time, but this has been at the expense of Andruw Jones not being in the lineup. I like Pierre's game but I don't see him holding an everyday gig through the remainder of the season with a crowded OF of Andruw Jones, Ethier, and Kemp.
Juan Pierre went hitless in Saturday's loss and is in a 1-for-14 slump.
Pierre was supposed to be the Dodgers' fourth outfielder, but now he's back starting over Andre Ethier. The problem is that manager Joe Torre thinks Pierre is the better player of the two if both are playing at their usual levels, even if all evidence suggests that it's not the case. Ethier currently has the better OPS by more than 100 points, and he's combined for 34 runs+RBI while using 103 at-bats. Pierre has 22 runs+RBI in 85 at-bats. It's simply absurd that Ethier has started three games to Pierre's nine this month.
