Only real difference between the two here is Lee's WHIP in 2006. But Lee also put up a 14-8 season in 2004, with 161K in 179IP...
2005 - 14-12, 217IP, 163K, 3.73ERA, 1.22 WHIP
2006 - 14-13, 223IP, 176K, 4.12ERA, 1.21 WHIP
2005 - 18-5, 202IP, 143K, 3.79ERA, 1.22 WHIP
2006 - 14-11, 200IP, 129K, 4.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP
He was hurt last year. And he was pretty much terrible because of it. He's no bum. Say what you will about BABIP and all of that, but that can be misleading as well when they're beating balls into the dirt, breaking bats, and hitting it off the ends of bats. Only one legit hit he gave up tonight. Most were bloops, bad flip from Casey Blake let Abreu beat out an infield hit...
So no, he's not going to finish the season with a sub 1 ERA and WHIP. And he's not going to strikeout 20 in 9 innings. But he's going to get it done, and as long as he's healthy, he's going to be winning games.
