First Fantasy Baseball league

Postby DBacks in 08 » Wed May 07, 2008 11:39 am

Hi all, first league and first post here for me! I hope to get input and learn a bit more about the game and it's players... And this seems like it's a great way to do it... I'm in a 10 team H2H with 7 batting and 7 pitching categories...

Batting: R, HR, RBI, SB, TB, AVG, OBP

Pitching: W, CG, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

Are these the standard scoring categories????

I know very little about baseball, but we drafted a week in to the season and I was one of the only ones who drafted live.... I think I did really well, except for the fact that I didn't realize until the last five picks that I had to draft pitchers. :*) Tell me what you think of my team and any trades or moves I should make please. Thanks in advance! ;-D

Batters:
C. Napoli
1B. Derrek Lee
2B. Chase Utley
3B. Figgins

LF. Crawford
CF. McLouth

BN. Nady
BN. Doumit
BN. Burrell
BN. Aybar

TB, CG, and HLD are normal, not really standard. I love HLDs.

Offense, you should be fine. You've done a great job getting Saunders/Voquez/Raunch/Cook to help you out in the early season.

Let me give you some input on holds, since I always win that category ;-D

For holds, focus on guys that have SP/RP eligbility. That way, they won't take up spots that can be reserved for ONLY Saves guys. Try to grab Buchholz. If not him, Leo Núñez, or Sean Marshall (if they move him back out of long relief) are decent holds options that have SP eligibility. With holds, its all about maximizing chances to get them. In my league we also count both Saves and Holds. I start on a daily basis (Nine open pitching slots: 2 SP, 5 RP, 2 P):

Saves
Nathan
Papelbon
Percival

Holdes
Ryan Franklin
Jesse Carlson
Taylor Buchholz
Sean Marshall
Tyler Walker
Ryan Rowland-Smith

I'll start Bucholz and Marshal in my SP slots, then replace them with actualy SPs when they have starts.

Help with mine please!
