I am in a 12 man 5X5 roto league and i drew the 11th pick. who should i take with my 1st and 2nd round picks (best scenario)? *assume that the draft goes as it should and no one takes Coco Crips in the first round*. Who's likely to be available then? Should i try and trade that pick and get another or do you like that position?

my first thoughts are hoping that nomar drops to 11 and then maybe take a pitcher coming back. i'd like to get one of the top 4 stud ss and get that position out of the way.

or you can probly get 2 top 10 pitchers, thats not a bad way to start a draft....

depending on who drops, i would either go with Garciaparra or a top pitcher in the first and either B. Boone or J. Kent in the second.

is it smart to start with two stud pitchers? because i'm so late in the draft it seems that everyone is roughly the same from pick 8 until midway through the second round.

is it easier to find a good hitter or good pitcher?

No way

There is no way that I would try to take two pitchers because by the time your turn comes back around you will have no dominant offensive players. Also pitchers come at a dime a dozen, example Estaban Loiza. Need another one Jason Schmidt. Yet another? Javier Vazquez.

theres alot more quality hitters in the mlb than quality pitchers. loaiza is a 3rd starter at best on a staff of 5.

i'm a big fan of the nomar in the first and then boone in the second strategy but is the second pick in the second round too early for b.boone? he'll definately be gone by the time it gets back to me as will kent. i like getting rid of the harder positions to fill early. is tejada or rentaria worthy of a first round pick if nomar is gone?

I had the 12th (last) pick in a recent draft and took Nomar and Pedro...

I'm not a big fan of drafting either nomar/rent/tejada with a first round pick. Yes they play premium positions but still to me not worth picking so early. It bothers me that Nomar is 8th avg pick overall in ESPN Live Drafts. He'd have to match his numbers from last yr AND stl even more bases in my opinion to warrant a pick that high. We can't expect the bosox offense to match last yrs record setting yr can we?

With your first picks grab the best available maybe a Manny/Bonds/Helton/Thome. Suitable middle infielders can be had a bit later (berroa, reyes etc.). Let other leaguemates waste their top picks on lesser players at premium positions and just grab the best hitters you can. It takes a lil smarter drafting to make sure you don't get jerked on those scarce positions later, but imo is the best way to do it.
