Which pitching staff is better? WHIR

Postby shoelessjoetara » Fri Apr 25, 2008 4:36 am

My pitching staff:
Brett Myers
Dice-K
Randy Johnson
Edinson Volquez
Zack Greinke
Dustin McGowan
Rich Hill
Max Scherzer
Rafael Betancourt
Manny Acosta- Thinking of dropping him for Homer Bailey. Should I do it?
Chad Cordero
Brian Fuentes

His pitching staff:
Fausto Carmona
Chris R. Young
Micah Owings
Scott Baker
John Danks
John Lannan
Matt Cain
Tom Gorzelanny
Edwin Jackson
Troy Percival
Jason Isringhausen
Joel Pinero

This is a 14 team mixed league . The reason I want to know is because this guy is in 1st and I am currently in 2nd and he has a huge lead mostly because his guys are producing almost double of what their normal production is. His pitching is doing the same. Besides Young Carmona and Owings I think he is having a great stretch of luck and I think that is where I will have to make my move . It is early but I just want to get some thoughts. My hitting has just started to produce so I have made up tremendous ground. I hope it keeps up. Do yall think his surprising pitchers like Danks, Lannan, and Baker can continue to produce like they have? Just looking for some opinions. Thanks

Once Lannan, Danks, and Baker cool down, I think that your pitching staff is better. His staff is going to still look pretty good though after they cool down, because he still Young, Carmona, Owings, and Cain.

Also, if I were you I would Acosta to pick Bailey, unless you have to use your waiver claim. As you have a good number of RP at the moment.

I'd say the first staff is better by a lot.

I'd go with your staff hands down. I'm not big on a lot of the younger pitchers he has.

I think your staff is all-around better. His staff is riding the hot starts of Lannan, Danks and Baker.

I've got a serous man crush on Dustin McGowan as well, so that helps push my vote towards your staff.

Your staff definitely has the better pitchers with longer staying power. Young pitchers are hit and miss even after their hot starts. And while you both have young guys, you have a lot more solid proven guys.
