Well through the first month the team has done fairly well. Clearly, as this thread has shown, the Cards will not keep up this pace and are playing over their heads. But I think it's not outta the question a .500 record is possible now. The Cards have to go 63-70 the rest of the way for a .500 record, and that's with Clement and Carpenter coming back at some point...
While some players have been performing well above average, some aren't quite up to their marks yet. Glaus has been doing fine so far, but still below expected slugging %.. The Outfield is performing extradorinarily well, but .800+ OPS from Ankiel and Duncan isn't out of the question. Starting pitchingwise, only Lohse is performing way out of expectations.
I'm not gonna argue this right now this is a playoff team, but I'm starting to believe a .500 finish is a possibility.
