Year 2 keeper - 12 team, H2H 6 x 6, I kept 7 HELP ME FIX IT

Postby uscrichie » Sun Mar 23, 2008 5:34 pm

Year 2 of 3 year keeper ( I kept Utley, HanRam, Sizemore, C.C., Webb, Pence, McCann)

1B Garko
2B Utley
3B A.Beltre
SS HanRam
OF Sizemore
OF Pence
OF Delmon Young
C McCann
Bench OF - J. Upton
Bench multi position - Yunel Escobar

SP Webb
SP C.C.
SP Lincecum
SP Gallardo
SP Glavine
SP Scott Baker
RP Marmol
RP Tony Pena
RP Betancourt
RP K. Gregg
RP Soria
RB Brandon Lyon

Not sure about Closers, but other than that, I'm stoked. Thinking about picking up B. Butler (OF and IB eligibility) and dropping Upton. Anyone see any holes I'm missing???? Thanks for the help. I have another 12 teamer draft next week, so I want to hear all peoples opinions.

Overall thoughts on team?

This team is very good. Congratulations. You're weak on closers, but in a head-to-head, I wouldn't worry too much. Just make sure you start a few guys who have closer jobs, and you'll be fine. But trading for a stud closer wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Depends on how well Lyon and Soria do.

1B is probably your weakest point on offense. Butler could be an improvement.

Help me out?

I'm not sure about whether to keep Upton or Garko to pick up Butler, or not pick him up at all. This is a tough choice. Right now, I think I'm going to sit pat.

I'd think about dropping Garko for Butler if I were going to pickup Butler. One thing to note is that Butler qualifies for 1B/OF (at least in yahoo). So maybe that swings it back to dropping Upton for Butler, depends on how durable you think your OF is gonna be. Thanks for your help.

I'm also thinking about dropping Upton and picking up Milledge. I think with Sizemore and Pence (they are all out gamers, so injury is always a concern) I need some solidity on my bench to address injuries without a big dropoff

Looks solid to me. I wouldn't worry about the save situation, I think that Soria and Lyon will be fine, and Marmol will have the job as soon as Wood's arm falls off (might be before the season starts!). Butler would be a good pickup, but more so because of his 2 positions. If you don't feel that you need the flexibility then it might be a push. Thanks for the help on mine!

I wouldnt worry too much about saves. I think Betancourt will have the job by the allstar break and im very high on soria this year.

Your offense is ver balanced but i think it could be a little bit light on power. You don't really have any perennial 30+ HR guys on the team. I would personnaly not drop Upton for Milledge, Upton has a lot more potential and I doubt anyone will be running to pick up Milledge unless he comes out of the gate strong.

Pitching is good but I wonder if there is an upgrade over Glavine on the waivers somewhere.

Overall though its a strong team

Yes, your team is weak on closers right now, but drafting players like Marmol and Betancourt is the smartest strategy you can take. The rest of your team is nearly perfect, and your relief pitching could easily come close if those two take over their respective closing jobs.

In a H2H it isn't as important to have the closers, plus you have a few in waiting anyways. I'd agree with the masses to drop Garko for Butler.

Here's mine!

I'm not sure why you think Garko can do that. He set career highs with 21 hrs and 61 rbis last year. That said its his year 27 year so he may improve and should be steady at least. I guess it's a risk/reward thing with him and Butler.
