Final $ Draft...WHIR

Postby HipHopSpam » Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:54 am

This was the last of this season's drafts for me. Same as my previous drafts: 12 managers, H2H, 25 minimum IP, 5x5 -> Yahoo! league.

Draft Position - 6th -
R1 P6 SS Jimmy Rollins, PHI
R2 P7 OF Carlos Beltran, NYM
R3 P6 C Victor Martinez, CLE
R4 P7 1B Derrek Lee, CHC
R5 P6 2B Chone Figgins, ANA
R6 P7 SP Roy Oswalt, HOU
R7 P6 RP Billy Wagner, NYM
R8 P7 OF Jason Bay, PIT
R9 P6 OF Jeff Francoeur, ATL
R10 P7 SP Javier Vazquez, CHW
R11 P6 SP Matt Cain, SF
R12 P7 RP Carlos Marmol, CHC
R13 P6 RP Brad Lidge, PHI
R14 P7 SP Clay Buchholz, BOS
R15 P6 SP Oliver Perez, NYM
R16 P7 3B Edwin Encarnacion, CIN
R17 P6 3B Evan Longoria, TB
R18 P7 RP Heath Bell, SD
R19 P6 SS Yunel Escobar, ATL
R20 P7 OF Lastings Milledge, WAS
R21 P6 SP Jason Schmidt, LA

C - V. Martinez
1B - D. Lee
2B - C. Figgins
SS - J. Rollins
3B - Edwin Encarnacion
OF - C. Beltran, J. Bay, J. Francoeur
Util/BN - E. Longoria, Y. Escobar, L. Milledge

SP - R. Oswalt, J. Vasquez, M. Cain, C. Buchholdz, O. Perez
RP - B. Wagner, B. Lidge, C. Marmol, H. Bell
BN - J. Schmidt

I put the middle-reliever strategy to work in this draft, and ended with some good results. I think my SP's are better than I initially expected them to be. As for the batting, Chone Figgins came in the 5th which is a round later than I've usually seen him go. I missed out on Ryan Zimmerman, but snagged some sleepers at the hot corner late in the draft (Encarnacion and Longoria). Yunel Escobar and Lastings Milledge are playing really well in Spring Training and will probably see a lot of at-bats this season. Anyone see any flaws with this draft that I should look into adjusting during the season/future drafts? WHIR...

we have the same mind and draft strategies, I was going to draft all of your SP's, but every round the guy before me drafted the pitcher I was going to get, or I was trying to wait untill the draft came back to me but the person on the other side of me drafted the pitchers.

I like your team and you have better chances than my team does because of your SPs.

i think you have an alright team here, you have good speed, a nice bench. I think you need some SP help. It is nice to have Marmol because i think he eventually becomes the closer this year, i doubt Wood stays healthy. Milledge could pay off big if he gets the starting gig and if Longoria starts in Tampa you might have the next Ryan Braun. Jason Schmidt might be a waste of a spot
