How did I do? WHIR

Postby smoothcats13 » Fri Mar 14, 2008 3:58 pm

Second year of a 12 team, 5x5 roto league with 5 keepers. Keepers marked with *.

C: Ramon Hernandez
1B: Derrek Lee*
2B: Brian Roberts*
3B: David Wright*
SS: JJ Hardy
OF: Carlos Beltran*
OF: Carl Crawford*
OF: Jeff Francoeur
Utl: Nick Swisher
Bench: Jermaine Dye, Placido Polanco, Hank Blalock

SP: Scott Kazmir
SP: Tim Lincecum
RP: Rafael Soriano
RP: Eric Gagne
P: Jonathan Broxton
P: Rafael Perez
P: Derek Lowe
P: Jered Weaver
Bench: Joe Blanton, Hiroki Kuroda

I'm hoping to get a few saves out of Broxton and Perez, but I will probably need to grab someone off the waiver wire for a few more saves. I plan on keeping Polanco around until someone needs a 2B, and hopefully improve my catcher or shortstop.

Im not really liking Ramon Hernandez at C. He hasnt had more than 384 at-bats in the past 3 of 4 seasons. You aren't going to get a lot of RBI or a good average with him. If Geovany Soto, a really up and coming sleeper catcher, is available in your league, you should definitely pick him up. Your infield with Lee and Wright are monstrous, along with Beltran and Crawford in your outfield. Your offense is beastly when it comes to power, but you may want to upgrade to a few speedier guys so you can get some stolen bases. Maybe drop Swisher and get someone quicker in that spot. Your pitching staff could use one upgrade in the form of dropping Eric Gagne, and picking up a RP without any steroid allegations.

I think you're right on about the closer, SS, and C needs. I like your outfield, I hope Beltran stays healthy and Frenchy walks a few more times this year (his plate discipline has been improving steadily each year.) I would hang on to Swisher and try to trade one of your 2B, probably Polanco, I think his numbers will fall off before too long.
Rate my team if you get a chance. ;-D
