Revisiting old drafts

Postby CadensDad » Sun Feb 03, 2008 2:16 pm

Was looking at my profile on Yahoo and looked at a old league of mine. Thought it would be fun to look at the rounds some people got drafted and such. This is a yahoo public league. 12 teams h2h I won the regular season but lost in the playoffs.(My team is rolltide)

Round 1

1. Barry Bonds LFR
2. Albert Pujols RollTide
3. Álex Rodríguez donnie B
4. Mark Prior CUBS
5. Pedro Martínez creds
6. Eric Gagne solid
7. Vladimir Guerrero My Thome hurts
8. Gary Sheffield SKULLS3
9. Alfonso Soriano onyx
10. Carlos Beltrán Chicos Bail ...
11. Manny Ramírez WINNING FREAK
12. Todd Helton Marlins04

Wow 3 pitchers in the first round, But other than that and Bonds not much has changed, if this was a keeper league 7 of the 8 hitters would be kept year to year most likely.

Round 2
1. Carlos Delgado Marlins04
3. Nomar Garciaparra Chicos Bail ...
4. Scott Rolen onyx
5. Jim Thome SKULLS3
6. Mike Piazza My Thome hurts
7. Roy Halladay solid
8. Jason Giambi creds
9. Bret Boone CUBS
10. Jeff Kent donnie B
11. Curt Schilling RollTide
12. Jason Schmidt LFR

3 more pitchers went in round 2, A lot more guys here who are done and over Sosa/Nomar/Piazza/Boone don't play or either don't make it on 99% of all fantasy leagues. Then guys like Giambi,Delgado, Rolen make it in deep leagues. The only player who would be a strong everyday player is Halladay and Thome.

Round 3
1. Kerry Wood LFR
2. Randy Johnson RollTide
3. Javier Vázquez donnie B
4. Mike Mussina CUBS
5. Derek Jeter creds
6. Vernon Wells solid
7. Tim Hudson My Thome hurts
8. Keith Foulke SKULLS3
9. Eric Chávez onyx
10. Billy Wagner Chicos Bail ...
11. Miguel Tejada WINNING FREAK
12. Preston Wilson Marlins04

7 pitchers in this round thats 13 so far, Jeter,Wells are both still strong players worthy of a round 4-7 draft pick or so. Round 3 has changed a lot over the years

Round 4
1. Magglio Ordóñez Marlins04
2. John Smoltz WINNING FREAK
3. Édgar Rentería Chicos Bail ...
4. Bobby Abreu onyx
5. Jeff Bagwell SKULLS3
6. Troy Glaus My Thome hurts
7. Iván Rodríguez solid
8. Ichiro Suzuki creds
9. Andruw Jones CUBS
10. Jorge Posada donnie B
11. Javy López RollTide
12. Mariano Rivera LFR

Only 2 pitchers this time, Ordonez,Abreu, Suzuki are all about worth the same, 3 catchers went this round that's quite a few. Another big change in round 4.

Round 5
1. Rafael Furcal LFR
2. Roger Clemens RollTide
3. Trevor Hoffman donnie B
4. Andy Pettitte CUBS
5. Paul Lo Duca creds
6. Rafael Palmeiro solid
7. Barry Zito My Thome hurts
8. Esteban Loaiza SKULLS3
9. Bartolo Colón onyx
10. Garret Anderson Chicos Bail ...
11. Woody Williams WINNING FREAK
12. Carlos Lee Marlins04

7 more pitchers, WOW! 22 pitchers in the first 5 rounds. Only Furcal and Lee are solid players anymore another round that has had a huge change.

On here is my entire drafted team....

1. (2) Albert Pujols
2. (23) Curt Schilling
3. (26) Randy Johnson
4. (47) Javy López
5. (50) Roger Clemens
6. (71) Richie Sexson
7. (74) Michael Young
8. (95) Derek Lowe
9. (98) Larry Walker
10. (119) Tony Batista
11. (122) Corey Patterson
12. (143) Ángel Berroa
13. (146) Miguel Batista
14. (167) Scott Williamson
15. (170) Brad Penny
16. (191) Steve Finley
17. (194) Reggie Sanders
18. (215) Al Leiter
19. (218) Marquis Grissom
20. (239) Kenny Rogers
21. (242) Tim Salmon

Most of these guys don't even play anymore, and the only ones who make it on most 12 team league rosters are, Pujols, Schilling, Young, Penny amazing how 4 years changes baseball.

Here is my final season roster

Tony Batista (Was - 3B,Util)
Steve Finley (Col - OF,Util)
Lew Ford (Min - OF,Util)
Travis Hafner (Cle - 1B,Util)
Matt Lawton (Sea - OF,Util)
Víctor Martínez (Cle - C,Util)
Scott Podsednik (Col - OF,Util)
Albert Pujols (StL - 1B,OF,Util)
Miguel Tejada (Hou - SS,Util)
Larry Walker (StL - OF,Util)
Michael Young (Tex - 2B,SS,Util)

Miguel Batista (Sea - SP,RP,P)
Roger Clemens (NYY - SP,P)
Danny Graves (Col - SP,RP,P)
Trevor Hoffman (SD - RP,P)
Randy Johnson (Ari - SP,P)
Jason Marquis (ChC - SP,RP,P)
Brad Penny (LAD - SP,P)
Oliver Pérez (NYM - SP,P)
Jeff Suppan (Mil - SP,P)
Víctor Zambrano (Bal - SP,RP,P)

I made 22 moves and won the regular season league, not too bad I guess I wasn't very good at baseball and struggled. Everyone was decently active in this league for most of the year though. Just think it's amazing how much baseball has changed, thanks for reading
