In regard to players taking Steroids and HGH I care because for all the big-leaguers using there are equal, if not more, numbers of players who are trying to make it that are placing themsevles at risk. That's just wrong. I love baseball, love HRs and 100 MPH fastballs but I want it to be real and healthy. It's a sport and sport is supposed to promote fairness and health. These drugs are not philosophically in tune with the sport I love. They need to be gone.

Names I hear are Clemens and Pettitte this morning. I wonder if the Mets clubhouse guy is blowing the whistle on Yankees? lol. Actually what I wonder is if the big names in this report are going to consist of aging players and what would that mean?
Is it that younger players aren't using, or that they are getting their stuff elsewherer. Or could it mean that the report is chasing after names that could easily be gotten rid of and the money machine rolls along.

Considering steroids have been proven to be harmful for your body, I would say this is a foolish statement. If they find out years from now that heroin improves your ability to hit homeruns would you say inject away?

I would argue that McDonald's hamburgers in excess is more harmful to your body than steriods. Fact: steriods also promote healing. Alcohol, drugs, heck I bet even coffee (anything that dulls or takes over the senses of the body) has sparked the creativity of many great accomplishments. Beserker warriors used drugs to take away their fear as did Kamikazes with Meth during WWII. The US actually fed their soldiers steriods in WWII to increase their performance in battle. Some vitamins in excess can have similar health effects as steriods. What is foolosh is thinking at you can properly govern what 600 players put in their body. Not that I approve of steriods or drugs in general but its like gun control. People will and do get around it, don't they? I bet the NFL has more steroids abusers than baseball but they were and are just more careful since they had testing. Now that the MLB does, players will be more careful and still take them but just not get caught. I see it as an evolution to the game imo.

And your argument would be extremely flawed. Seems to me like you are comparing occasionally doing steroids to eating a ton of burgers per day. Not exactly on equal ground. You could use your "argument" on many things.

How many of them are thinking, well, if I can get away with it, I might get that scholarship, or I might get drafted, or I might just beat out the competition and make it to the professional level. People are dying over this, we need to care.

For the most part people don't though. If you listen to ESPN, talk radio hosts, public polls, read blogs/forums, etc. it would seem like a vast majority of the people think using steroids/HGH is cheating, a black eye on the sport, bad example for the kids, whatever.

For as much as people denounce the use of PEDs through these types of media, the MLB still broke the league attendance record in 2007. This made the 4th consecutive season that a new record was set. More than 20 of the teams had increased attendance from 2006 to 2007. Maybe its just the cynical part of me, but that looks like a bunch of people talking the talk, but not walking the walk.

I agree but there is a difference. Sure, there are some people that will boycott the sport but that number is minimal, IMHO. There are many more people that are against what someone like Bonds has done but that doesn't mean that they still don't want to go see him hit.

I guess the list could be right...although I'm not sure what would surprise me at this point. There isn't anyone that you could put on the list that would shock me.
