FFB venting thread

This is why I hate fantasy football. I had the best team all season and now I have to deal with injuries to Favre, Bush, Roy W at the most important time of the year. I am in the semifinal elimination round looking at some big money for the championship round.

With Bush gone, I have Stecker, Fred Jackson and Lendale White to fill his shoes. None of these guys are really that good but this is all I have to work with. If I lose, then I may take off another 5 years before giving FFB another try. :-t

I've come to the conclusion that the rules of my league are horrible. I've never played in a money league in football, and actually haven't played at all for 5 years until now - so I don't know if this is common place or if my league just sucks.

We have 12 teams, 3 divisions. Top 3 in each division make it as does a wildcard which is awarded to the 2nd place finisher with the best record of course.

This is our last week of the regular season. I have the best record in the league up until this point, at 9-4. However, there are quite a few others at 8-5. If I lose this week, I finish NO WORSE than tied for the best record in the regular season but I CANT make the playoffs. This is due to the fact that my division contains most of the other 8-5 teams and I naturally have the worst division record among us.

Why couldn't it just be top 4 teams, tie breaker goes to the team with the most points. Then I'd be guaranteed a playoff spot now (and at least a cut of the pot).

In any event, if simply just win, I'm the #1 seed. Boo yahh. :-D

Fantasy football is a farce, the season is so short that injuries kill teams like no other, and unlike baseball the importance of proper roster handling post draft is far less valued.

I still play though, but not with near the same passion.

I've taken this year off from fantasy football. Just didn't have the time nor the initiative to participate this year. I'll probably return next year. So, I could use all the pointers needed to prepare for next year's drafts/auctions. Anything different? Must be a down year for RB's and a better than usual one for QB's especially if you have Brady or Romo, right?

Honestly, I watched maybe 10 games coming into 2007 (including Super Bowls) in the last 5 years and I learned enough in 1 year to stay competitive.

It's just that 1 game a week is not enough sample size to be anything meaningful. One bad/missed game and you are screwed without any way to make it up. Completely random and I hate it.

I've had one team lose the following players this year:

McNabb
Larry Johnson (for what seems like most of the year)
Marshawn Lynch
Steve Smith (the good one)
Santonio Holmes

Yet I'm still in first at 10-3, second is at 8-5, and 4 teams are tied at 7-6. I've got the 4th highest points scored total so even if I had dropped a couple of games, I'd still be right in the thick of it. Injuries can always be overcome.

Wow, Yoda. Couldn't agree with you more. You and I are exactly the same, in this regard... :-D

I watch NFL games as background noise most of the time on Sundays, but overall the game is easy to pick up.

I'm not a huge fan. First two picks this year were Stephen Jackson, and Marvin Harrison = 7th place. Other than those two I drafted well and have a few FA pickups, but when your top two players are ineffective there is no coming back apparently.

My top 2 picks were Stephen Jackson and Brandon Jacobs, they have both missed a lot of games and been ineffective when playing.
