Actually, I'm saying the opposite. I'd put Tejada's value in the 80-100 range next year, unless the Orioles trade him to a much higher scoring team that wil boost his R and RBI. He's 32 and less likely to play 162 games per year as he did in his prime (which boosted his R, HR, and RBI). He really can't play SS very well anymore, so he is in danger of being switched to 3B where his bat is less valuable. If he stays on the Orioles, their offense is likely to continue stinking. I see Miggy next year a lot closer to last year than 2006.

Re: Another Interesting Mock draft

Postby hot4tx » Tue Dec 04, 2007 11:55 am

Thanks for all of your thoughts/help. Here's another couple of things... Hideki Matsui going at number 70. Is that a little low? He will be 33 when the season starts, and has almost no upside, but even with a slow start because of an injury that cost him all of his spring, he hit 100+ - 25 - 100+ again. The BA was a little low, but he hit .298 in the second half.

Isn't he basically a lock for 100-25-100-.300 with a top end of a 110-30-110-.300 year? Does that not make him a top 60 player in a 5x5 league? Is it the injury risk and lack of upside that pulls him down some spots? Or does his low SB totals keep him in the back even with the steady performances?

Also I'm glad to see Oswalt is being drafted closer to where he should go. Last year he went too high based only on name. He doesn't strike out nearly as many people any more and when you compare his stats to stats of what was expected out of other guys going round(s) later, they were similar.

Thanks for posting the mock. It's neat to be thinking about these things through the winter months.
