Expansion draft

Postby mak1277 » Sat Oct 06, 2007 9:59 am

I'm the commish in a 9-team, NL-only roto keeper league. We're toying with the idea of adding a 10th team and I was wondering if anyone had a set of rules for an expansion draft that they wouldn't mind sharing. I have some ideas, but would love to hear more.

Basic rules:
keep up to 5 guys each year
"standard" yahoo lineups (3 of, 1 util, 2 SP, 2RP, 3P)

My goal with the expansion draft would be to give the new team a chance. I don't want them automatically relegated to 10th place. That said, I do think the rules should still give the advantage to the legacy teams...I guess I'm just trying to find the right balance.

every team can protect 2-3 players from the expansion draft

the new team can make up to 4 selections (keep it one less than your max)

no team can be picked from more than once

the teams that are picked from automatically move up in round 1 (in the order that they were taken from)

id isolate the new person with just roster information so if he knowns one owner over the other that doesnt play into it

you can pick and choose from these rules I have a slightly different setup in my league with more keepers etc but people seem to like the balance of stuff like this for an expansion draft
