Jeff Kent remained out of the lineup Tuesday due to the hamstring strain he suffered on Sunday.
"It's doing all right," Kent said. "It's not as good as I hoped, but it's not bad. I don't know exactly how long it's going to be, but it's not going to be long." It is doubtful Kent will be in the starting lineup on Wednesday.
Second baseman Jeff Kent's strained hamstring kept him out of Saturday's starting lineup, and manager Grady Little has no plans of using him until risk of further injury is eliminated.
Kent has participated in baseball drills and Little said he would be used only in a game-breaking situation. If Kent reached base, he'd likely need a pinch-runner.
"He can perform them all," Little said of Kent's baseball drills. "He's pushing it to the very limit each and every day. But he's still not to the point where he's going to be able to play without risk of losing him for two or three weeks. We're not going to push him to that point. We can't afford that."
